St. Thomas More Catholic Church, a parish of 600 families located in the West Hills of Portland, Oregon, is seeking an experienced Pastoral Associate/Director of Religious Education. The responsibilities include planning and directing sacramental preparation programs for families preparing for Baptism, First Reconciliation and First Eucharist, as well as collaborate with Pastor and the Music Director in liturgical planning. This individual prepares and directs the RCIA and RCIC programs and will supervise the Religious Education Coordinator. A successful applicant must possess and display leadership and communication skills, both verbal and written (including presentations). The candidate must excel in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with office and school staff, parishioners and parents of school and Religious Education programs, vendors, and others in our community. The candidate should be a practicing Catholic in good standing and have thorough knowledge of Catholic faith, traditions, and teachings especially in the area of Catholic education.
We seek a practicing Catholic in good standing with 4-5 years experience and a thorough knowledge the traditions and teachings of our Church. Qualifications include strong interpersonal skills, use of discretion, creativity, ability to work on a team and problem analysis skills. Masters or equivalent degree in Theology or Religious Studies. Related degrees and comparable experience will be taken into consideration.
