Alumni Update: Summer 2016

It has been a busy year for Echo alumni! Congratulations to the following Echo alumni in their new professional endeavors. We are grateful for your continued commitment to excellence in your service to the Church!

Echo 1
Michael Sena (’06) was promoted to Senior Member of the Technical Staff at Sandia National Laboratories in January 2015. He also continues to serve his local parish as a lector, confirmation teacher, Theology of the Body for Teens teacher, graduate student bible study leader, and Symbolon facilitator.

In February of 2015 Paul Sifuentes (’07) became the Pastoral Associate of Evangelization at St Alphonsus Liguori in Zionsville, Indiana, where he works alongside his wife, Alexa (Puscas) Sifuentes (’07), who serves the parish as the Pastoral Associate of Worship.

Michael Jordan Laskey’s (’10) book, The Ministry of Peace and Justice (Liturgical Press), was released in February.

Anna (Waechter) Therneau (‘10) has been hired at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart & St. Casimir Parish in Winona, Minnesota, as the Administrative Pastoral Associate. She oversees all Faith Formation and Parish Life events; she coordinates RCIA for the entire city of Winona (five parishes and two universities); and she also has responsibilities, but to a lesser degree, with buildings and grounds, the parish council, and the finance council.

In April 2016, Natalie (Helfrick) LaHood (’11) began as Executive Director of St. Joseph’s House, a day care and respite home for children with disabilities in the DC area.

As of 2013 and to the present, Brett Perkins (’11) has taken on the role of Assistant Director of Sacramental Preparation & Catechesis in Campus Ministry at Notre Dame.

Echo 7
Joseph Grone (’12) will be pursuing a Master of Theological Studies degree at the Boston College School of Theology and Ministry beginning in Fall 2016 with the goal of pursuing a Ph.D. afterwards.

In April 2016 Kristi Haas (’12) accepted a new position at Notre Dame as Program Manager for Under Caesar’s Sword, where she is developing learning resources on Christian responses to persecution worldwide.

Annie Harton (’13) graduated with her M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy in December 2015. She’s now building a practice at Family Counseling Associates in Indianapolis. She’s integrating her theology and ministry experience into her therapy as a Catholic Christian therapist.

Echo 9
In October 2016, Erica Jackson (’14) will be entering as an aspirant with the Daughters of Mary of Nazareth in Boston.

Stephen Sheridan (’14) wrote and illustrated a children’s book, Waking Up, with which he hopes to introduce children to empathy, especially in encounters with mental health and the current stigma therein. Funded largely through donations from friends and family, this book is published with Archway Publishing (a self-publishing company affiliated with Simon and Schuster Publishing).

After serving as a Mentor-in-Faith for two years as a Notre Dame undergraduate, Scott Boyle (’15) has just completed his first summer of Notre Dame Vision Conferences as Assistant Director.
